What is Holistic Treatment?

This focus on the whole person concentrates on general well-being and not on dysfunctions. This strengths-based approach includes a number of treatment approaches and supports that may differ from conventional therapies. These practices can include things like Reiki (developed in 1922 by Japanese Buddhist Mikao Usui), Chakra meditations, drum circles, aromatherapies, mindfulness, reflexology, and acupuncture. This integration of spiritual and physical practices encourages clients to be seen as whole individuals who are more than the sum of their pieces. This strength-based paradigm includes things that might not be common in treatment centers. Holistic treatment center for addiction include these offerings to help clients explore new methods by which to cope and engage their spirituality.
How is Holistic Treatment used in Addiction Recovery?
When someone decides to change patterns of addiction that results in consequences this choice is a large commitment. This choice engages the entire person. This chance to meet their sober goals should be met with as many supports as possible. There are a number of interventions that clients can be introduced to and new practices that can be incorporated into their recovery. CIVIQ Health also invites client to use recovery supports in the community. These supports can include narcotics anonymous, alcoholics anonymous, and cocaine anonymous. All of these include an aspect of a higher power in their traditions and steps. CIVIQ also includes the holistic approach of Dharma Recovery which takes a mindfulness and Buddhist approach to recovery. The following is taken from the Recovery Dharma Collective webpage:
“Recovery Dharma welcomes anyone who is looking to heal from addiction and addictive behavior, whether it’s caused by substance use or process addictions like codependency, gambling, eating disorders, relationships, technology, or any obsessive or habitual pattern that creates suffering. We’ve found that this Buddhist-inspired path can lead to liberation from the suffering of addiction, and we support you in finding your own path to recovery.”
The integration of these aspects of supportive recovery communities allows for clients to explore a holistic approach to their recovery.
